Production 3: Choosing a DirectorTheatre directors
don't grow on trees, though we have a reasonable number in
our midst. Standards are important, however, and the main
committee have ratified the following path for TT
directors:
The first rung for an 'ab initio' director is to
successfully direct In-House.
Next, successful direction of a Festival entry is a
pre-requisite for appointment to a full-length Thespians
production.
The Chair of this SC has responsibility in respect of
rehearsal patterns and objectives. Adequately reported or
observed successful direction in a professional-level
theatre elsewhere is an acceptable alternative to our
'first two rungs'. An Assistant Director is to be appointed
to all major productions henceforth.
